Aston Martin

Aston Martin F1 Team is a racing team that has been active in Formula 1 since 2021. The British outfit became the successor of Racing Point F1 after 2020, in which Aston Martin shareholder Lawrence Stroll was one of the owners. In 2023, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will compete for the team.

Aston Martin and Red Bull Partnership

Aston Martin was previously the title sponsor of Red Bull Racing. During that collaboration, which was established in 2018, the team was known as Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. The expectation at the time was that the automaker wanted to deepen its involvement in Formula 1, and Red Bull provided a good platform for that. However, the partnership was limited to sponsoring the team and did not go beyond that. Nevertheless, the collaboration did lead to the development of a road car, the Aston Martin Valkyrie. With Aston Martin having its own team since 2021, the partnership with Red Bull came to an end.

Aston Martin, together with the Stroll-led investor group, acquired the majority of shares through the takeover of Racing Point. However, it doesn't mean that the Formula 1 team's factory and all other components have moved to the main Aston Martin facility. The racing team will remain near the Silverstone circuit, where it will carry out its operations. The team has been based at this location for years, even when it was still known as Force India.

Vettel Retires, Replaced by Alonso

Aston Martin had to find a new driver for the 2023 season as Vettel announced his retirement at the end of 2022. The replacement for the four-time world champion came in the form of a two-time world champion, Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard leaves Alpine after two years and becomes the teammate of Lance Stroll. In turn, Pierre Gasly replaces Alonso.
